ATV-2 Johannes Kepler docking, 4-Mar-2011

Whilst all eyes were on the recent footage of the ATV-2 Johannes Kepler docking at the International Space Station on the 24th February 2011 - all AOES eyes were on the mission logo visible on the side of the space vehicle.

This logo designed by AOES Medialab for the European Space Agency, represents the concept of stability, strength and precision. As graphic designer, Anne-Valerie Bernus explains;

"These qualities are essential, as the ISS crew counts on the ATV to deliver experiments, equipment but, more important, basic human necessities like food, air and water to the International Space Station. It was therefore important to convey in the image that the ATV is a reliable life-line between the ISS and our planet Earth."

"The idea for the ATV family is to keep the same design but to change the name and colour. This will enforce, each new generation of ATV, showing that each ATV mission is as reliable as the previous one."

Well done to AOES Medialab for delivering a product of excellent quality!
